Matchroom Boxing has officially announced the WBC super lightweight world title fight between champion Dalton Smith (19-0) and mandatory challenger Alberto Puello (25-1).
The bout will take place on October 24 at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom, where Smith will make the next defence of his WBC crown in front of his home fans.
Interestingly, this is the second time the two fighters have been scheduled to meet. Smith and Puello were previously set to clash on June 6 on the fight card of the Padley vs Fiaz event. However, the fight was cancelled before it could take place.
Smith enters the fight with a perfect professional record of 19-0, including 14 victories by knockout. On January 10, he defeated former world champion Subriel Matías to claim the WBC super lightweight world title. Before his career-defining victory over Matías, the 29-year-old Briton earned notable wins over Mathieu Germain, Walid Ouizza, and former world champion José Zepeda.
Puello enters the fight with a record of 25-1, with his only professional defeat coming against Subriel Matías. He back from that setback with a stoppage victory over Miguel Ángel Bolaños.The Dominican has recorded wins over Sandor Martín, Gary Antuanne Russell, and Ector Madera during his professional career.
